MY BOOKS

My aim is to introduce forgotten personalities to the wider public through books and both scientific and accessible articles. As a member of the younger generation, I aspire to bring these stories closer to my peers, who often possess different interests and may not take pride in their own history.

In June 2024 my first book translated to English was published!

My other six books are unfortunately only available in Czech. However, I am actively working on creating an English translation!

The Last of the Heroes:

The Untold Story of Czechoslovak WWII Veteran Ervin Hoida

Book is not available on Amazon. You can get autographed copy here (click below) and on my tours.
It cost 500 CZK (20 USD/20 EUR)

The book details the extraordinary life of WWII veteran Major Ervín Hoida, who was living in quiet anonymity till his death in February 2024 near Liverpool, UK.

The publication sheds light on Hoida’s experiences as a participant in the tumultuous events of WWII.

His journey began with a harrowing escape from German-occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939, leading him through fascist Italy to the southern reaches of France. Joining the Czechoslovak Foreign Army, Hoida fought alongside the Allies in the retreat battles in France in 1940 before being successfully evacuated to the British Isles. Although he intended to start training to take part in secret operations for the occupied homeland, fate took a turn when he met a British citizen and married her. Later, in 1944-45, Ervin served as a tank driver in the Czechoslovak Independent Armored Brigade, which besieged the Nazi-occupied French port of Dunkirk.

Ervin Hoida was the last living witness to the full odyssey of Czechoslovaks on the Western Front and the last Czech veteran of the Battle of France in 1940. He was the last of the heroes.
